Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments are a way to prevent decay and remineralize tooth structure
The protective outer layer of our teeth is called enamel. The enamel of our teeth can become weaker due to the acids produced by the bacteria in our mouth. Fluoride can help to restore the strength of our enamel and its resistance to the demineralization the acids can cause. This can help in the prevention of decay and sensitivity related to the breakdown of enamel.
How does a fluoride treatment work at our office?
Depending on your child's oral health and/or the doctor's recommendation, they may be required to have a fluoride treatment every three, six, or 12 months.
Our doctors may also elect to prescribe at-home fluoride products like mouthwash, gels, or special rinses.
Silver diamine fluoride treatments at our office
Silver diamine fluoride, otherwise known as SDF, is a liquid that is painted onto a cavity to help stop the lesion from progressing. It has antimicrobial properties and can remineralize your child's tooth structure. It can also help with extreme sensitivity.
